The Dirty Truth of Donated Clothes

I find that it’s interesting that a majority of the clothes donated find their way to Africa.  When clothes are donated, they are first sent to a sorting warehouse. At the warehouse employees sort the clothes by quality, where the better clothes are sent to the stores for resell and the rest are shipped to Africa.

When I buy clothes I purposely look for things that will last a long time.  These items are normally made with better material and will cost more than fast fashion items. Since the clothes are more expensive I tend to buy less, which means it’s easier to find something to wear in the morning.

I also look for clothes at thrift stores like Goodwill. As stated above Goodwill normally separates the donated clothes and puts the higher quality product on the shelves.
